Frequently Asked Questions
I take a trauma-informed approach with most of my clients. I use a combination of CBT, EMDR, and client centered modalities so counseling doesn't feel like you're being put into a box. We work on what would be best for you at the time, all while heading towards your long-term goals. If you have a question about whether or not we would be a good fit, schedule a free 15-minute consultation call.
Most of the time, each session lasts 50 minutes. I have availability for double sessions which last just under two hours.
This depends on the types and severity of symptoms you are experiencing. Other factors that determine how long it will take to see progress are session frequency and client motivation. We can discuss this during your first visit. I would hope that you see some sort of identifiable progress within the first six sessions, and if not, something needs to change, which we would talk about at that time.
Aleesa does not have the ability to prescribe medication. This topic can be discussed on a case-by-case basis to see what is right for you. Medication will never be pushed on clients or presented as the only solution to a problem.
If you can't access the client portal, please email Aleesa at counseling@hopefulfeedback.com
At the beginning of counseling, you will set some goals for yourself. From time to time we will revisit the goals to see if any improvement has been made. If you don't feel as though counseling is going as you would like it, bring this up to me and we can tailor the experience to your preferences.
This depends on your availability. I'm not the kind of counselor who pushes people to come to counseling for monetary gain or to feed my own ego. I give suggestions on what might be best, but at the end of the day you decide what works for you. I want to be sensitive to your availability, so I leave this up to my clients after hearing my suggestions during the first session.
Making the call to set up your first appointment is always the hardest part… believe me, I've done it before! Once you start counseling, though, you'll most likely notice less nervousness than you feel right now. Some people even notice a lot of relief after calling or filling out the contact form. I have experience with working with a lot of people with anxiety, and I know how to make the process less anxiety-provoking. Once we meet, you'll see it's not as bad as the worst-case scenario that's probably playing in your head right now. Click here to become a client… you'll be grateful you did.
